DAMIAO DM-J3507 planetary joint motor

A 150 gram joint motor with a 3 N·m peak: the smallest thing in the DM-J range and the one that goes inside a hand, an exoskeleton or a small pan-tilt. It is a deliberate low-ratio (7:1) design, so it is fast and backdrivable rather than a holding joint.

When this is the right choice

  • Inside a hand or an exoskeleton. 46 mm and 150 g fits where a Φ57 module will not.
  • 7:1 is fast and backdrivable. Good for a compliant finger drive or a pan-tilt that has to be moved by hand when unpowered.
  • Dual encoder gives absolute position on the output side, so no homing on power-up.
  • Same CAN stack as the rest of DM-J — one driver, one configuration tool.

When it is the wrong choice

  • Holding anything up. No brake, and 0.8 N·m rated will not hold a lever against gravity.
  • Force-controlled contact. No torque sensor; current-loop torque drifts with temperature.
  • Above ~3 N·m. DM-J4310 gives 5.2/18 N·m in a Φ57 body for twice the mass.

DM-J3507 FAQ

Is 7:1 enough reduction for a robot joint?

For a finger or a camera axis, yes — and the low ratio is the point: it stays backdrivable and fast. For anything that has to hold a load, a higher-ratio joint is the right choice.

Can I add a brake?

No. The DM-J series has no brake option on any SKU, confirmed across the 2026 catalogue.

24 V or 48 V?

24 V nominal, 24–48 V supported at the same torque; 48 V roughly doubles no-load speed.

How long does it take to ship?

Confirmed per order at quotation.
