When this is the right choice
- Sensed, braked and tiny. 0.276 kg with both features inside — a neck or wrist axis that can feel contact without an external sensor.
- One ESI for the whole series. The same EtherCAT description file as the R120-MAX, so a mixed build configures once.
- 23-bit magnetic encoders on both sides at a frame this small.
- Drop-in for a wrist rebuild. The Φ48 bolt pattern is the common one for small harmonic wrists.
When it is the wrong choice
- Anything structural. 16 N·m peak is a wrist figure, not an elbow one.
- Holding a heavy hand at power-off. The brake holds 0.15 N·m statically — sized for the joint, not for a 1 kg end effector on a long lever.
- Cost-sensitive grippers. A planetary unit or a smart servo is cheaper where backlash does not matter.

CE-RBV3-R48-101 FAQ
Is the torque sensor really integrated at this size?
Yes — the RBV3 series carries brake and sensor in the same envelope across the range. What differs is the sensor range: 16 N·m here, 600 N·m on the R120-MAX.
What is the difference from RBV1 R48?
RBV3 adds the brake and the sensor and raises the rated torque to 6.5 N·m (the RBV1 Lite frame is quoted at 5 N·m). Mechanically they share the Φ48 frame.
Can it hold a hand at power-off?
The brake holds 0.15 N·m of static torque. That is enough to stop the joint drifting, not to carry a heavy end effector on a long forearm — size the lever before you rely on it.
How long does it take to ship?
Confirmed per order at quotation — brake, sensor and connector options all affect it.
