DAMIAO DM-J4310 planetary joint motor

A Φ57 mm planetary joint motor in four variants that differ by length and by how much peak torque the winding will take: 3–5.2 N·m rated, 7–18 N·m peak, 306–370 g. Wrist, finger and small rotary axes — and a favourite starting point for research platforms because 24 V and CAN are easy to build around.

When this is the right choice

  • Wrist and small-axis duty at the right order of magnitude. 5.2 N·m and 370 g is a real servo joint, not a hobby servo, at a size that fits a forearm.
  • Cheap to integrate. 24 V, CAN, and a driver stack with published code — the fastest way to put a controllable joint on a research platform.
  • Planetary reduction tolerates shock and reversal far better than a harmonic of the same size, which matters on a hand or a wrist that gets bumped.
  • Absolute position on the output side from the dual encoder, so no homing routine on every power-up.

When it is the wrong choice

  • Any axis that must hold when power drops. There is no brake in this series and no factory option for one — a vertical wrist on DM-J4310 will fall.
  • Force-controlled contact. No torque sensor; current-loop torque is a control mode, not a measurement, and it drifts with temperature.
  • Above ~18 N·m. DM-J4340 (12/40 N·m) or DM-J6216 (10/45 N·m) sit in the same Φ57–67 envelope with more torque.

DM-J4310 FAQ

Which of the four DM-J4310 variants do I want?

V1.1 is 3/7 N·m at 306 g and the original winding. V1.2 keeps the same Φ57 × 46 mm body and raises the peak to 12.5 N·m. P is the same torque as V1.2 in a 49.05 mm body with a different output interface. M reaches 5.2/18 N·m in a 53.3 mm body at 370 g. If you have the axial space, M is the one to take.

Can I add a brake or a torque sensor?

No. Across the whole DM-J series there is no brake option and no torque sensor — the 2026 catalogue does not contain either feature on any of the roughly twenty SKUs. If you need either, the harmonic lines are where they exist.

24 V or 48 V?

24 V nominal with 24–48 V supported at the same torque. The 48 V variant roughly doubles no-load speed, which is why mobile platforms often order it.

How long does it take to ship?

Confirmed per order at quotation — it depends on the variant and the quantity. The quotation carries the date we are working to.
