When this is the right choice
- Elbow and shoulder pitch on a mid-weight arm. 102 N·m start–stop gives a 5–8 kg payload a usable acceleration envelope.
- Humanoid wrist and forearm pitch. The Φ87 body fits inside most forearm shells.
- Half the mass of the frame above. 1.28 kg against 3.30 kg for the same bore and the same bus — the reason people stop here.
- Force feedback available with -TH2, still under 1.5 kg.
When it is the wrong choice
- Hip pitch or knee on a full-size humanoid. 49 N·m is not enough once body mass enters the load case — that is TCHL-32.
- Wrist axes that only need 20–30 N·m. TCHL-17 saves 0.35 kg and a size.
- Cyclic shock. A harmonic in a foot or an ankle takes impact badly.
Alternatives at a similar level
- TCHL-25 — 83 N·m at 1.85 kg — the next frame up
- TCHL-17 — 29 N·m at 0.93 kg for lighter wrists
- Crabnova CE-RBV3-R83-101 — 53 N·m with brake and a 200 N·m sensor, 1.60 kg
- EYOU RHU25L-80 — 47 N·m at 100:1 in a Φ80 frame, 1.27 kg, -F force control

TCHL-20 FAQ
TCHL-20 or TCHL-25?
Compare the peak you actually need, not the rated figure. If your trajectory peaks below 100 N·m, TCHL-20 is 0.6 kg lighter and cheaper. Above that, TCHL-25.
Does the brake fit inside the same envelope?
Yes — the -B variant adds about 0.17 kg and no change to the mounting interface.
Can the joint run continuously at rated torque?
Rated is the figure at 2000 rpm input with the stated duty; sustained operation at rated torque in a hot enclosure is a thermal question. Send us the duty cycle and we will check it against the manufacturer curve.
How long does it take to ship?
Confirmed per order at quotation.
