When this is the right choice
- 120 N·m peak at 1,075 g. The same class as PHU25H-110 on peak, at less than half the mass — because there is no strain-wave set to survive.
- 421 W continuous. Enough for a hip on a mid-size quadruped to run a real gait without derating.
- Φ8 through-bore is a genuine cable passage, not a token hole.
- 56 mm axial length at Φ96.5 — very short for this torque, which matters in a leg where joints stack.
When it is the wrong choice
- Backlash at the highest torque in the line. 12 arcmin of reverse play on a 35 N·m axis is a control problem; expect to need output-side feedback for precise positioning.
- No brake. A hip that must hold position with power off needs a separate holding brake, which erases part of the mass advantage.
- Harmonic beats it where precision matters. If the axis must repeat to arcminutes, PHU or RHU is the correct family regardless of mass.

RP90L FAQ
Is the throughput really 421 W?
That is the rated continuous power at 115 rpm and 35 N·m. It is a thermal rating as much as a mechanical one — short bursts well above it are fine, sustained operation above it is not.
Can it replace a harmonic in a hip?
If the hip only has to move and hold with a brake, yes, and you save about 3 kg. If it has to be torque-controlled or hold position with power off, the harmonic frame is still the right answer.
How long does it take to ship?
Confirmed per order at quotation. Figures for the RP series are approximate in the catalogue and confirmed with the factory before we quote.
