When this is the right choice
- Harmonic with zero backlash at a planetary price. The whole point of the DM-JH line: a strain-wave gear set inside a Φ52 housing for less than most integrated planetaries.
- CAN FD at this price point, so the bus is not the bottleneck in a multi-axis rig.
- Double encoder as standard — single-turn absolute on the output side, so the joint knows where it is without homing.
- 24 V and 48 V both supported, which matters if the rest of the robot runs on a 24 V pack.
When it is the wrong choice
- 7.8 N·m peak at 51:1 is low. A wrist that gets knocked will reach it; the 101:1 build at 10.5 N·m is the safer choice for anything moving.
- 20–40 rpm rated output speed. Slow compared with an RP planetary — fine for an arm, not for an axis that has to snap into position.
- No brake or torque-sensor option published. If the axis must hold with power off, this frame does not do it.

DM-JH11 FAQ
51:1 or 101:1?
51:1 gives 3.2 N·m at 40 rpm, 101:1 gives 4.8 N·m at 20 rpm. For a wrist that has to move quickly, 51:1; for a joint that holds a lever, 101:1. The price is the same.
Is it really zero backlash?
A harmonic strain-wave set has effectively zero backlash by construction — that is the difference from the DM-J planetary line, which is a gear train. Torsional stiffness still complies under load, so treat it as very stiff, not infinitely stiff.
How long does it take to ship?
Confirmed per order at quotation. DAMIAO ships from stock more often than the harmonic-only brands, so the date is usually shorter; the quotation states it.
