Linker Hand L30 Pro tendon-driven dexterous hand

The fastest hand in the range and the closest to a human one: 17 tendon-driven joints plus 4 passive, 0.2 seconds from open to closed, fingertip speeds past 400°/s, and a tactile array at the fingertips. Built for biomimetic research rather than for a production cell.

When this is the right choice

  • 0.2 s open-to-closed. Six times faster than an L20 Lite, and the reason this hand is used where the demonstration itself is fast.
  • Tendon drive puts the mass in the palm. The fingers are light, so contact is compliant and the hand behaves like a human one when it hits something.
  • Fingertip tactile array — the only hand in the range with sensing at the contact point as part of the specification.
  • 900 Hz CAN FD keeps up with the speed the mechanism can produce.

When it is the wrong choice

  • Tendon maintenance. Tendons are a wear item; a research hand that runs for months will need re-tensioning. Ask for the procedure and the spares kit.
  • Grip force. 39 N is the lowest in the range — built for dexterity, not for lugging parts.
  • Industrial duty cycles. For a million-cycle production cell, L6 is the honest choice.

Linker Hand L30 Pro FAQ

Is 1.2 kg or 1.4 kg the correct weight?

The consolidated specification says approximately 1.2 kg while one older page says 1.4 kg. We confirm the figure on the unit datasheet at quotation rather than pick the flattering one.

What is a tendon hand like to maintain?

Tendons stretch and eventually wear. The practical questions are how long re-tensioning takes, whether it can be done without removing the hand, and what a tendon set costs — we get all three answered before shipping.

Why does it only grip 39 N?

The tendons and finger structure are sized for speed and compliance, not force. For holding a 5 kg part, the L20 at 100 N is the right hand.

How long does it take to ship?

Confirmed per order at quotation — tendon hands are built and calibrated before dispatch.
