DAMIAO DM-J6006 flat planetary joint motor

Thirty-six millimetres long and 76 across: the pancake of the DM-J range. 4 N·m rated, 11 N·m peak, 335 g, and a 6:1 ratio that keeps the output fast. When axial space is the binding constraint, this is the shape that fits.

When this is the right choice

  • Axial space is the constraint. 36.5 mm long for a 76 mm disc — the flattest joint in the range.
  • 6:1 keeps output speed high, which suits gimbals, turrets and rotating sensor heads.
  • 11 N·m peak at 335 g — more than the DM-J4310 peak, in a flat package.
  • Dual encoder with absolute position on the output side.

When it is the wrong choice

  • Torque-dense arm axes. 4 N·m rated will not carry a forearm; DM-J4340 doubles it in a smaller diameter.
  • No brake, no sensor — same limitation as the whole DM-J series.
  • Radial-load-heavy joints. A pancake bearing is the wrong shape for a long cantilever.

DM-J6006 FAQ

Why choose a flat body over a normal one?

Because the joint sits inside a plate rather than on the end of a tube: rotary turrets, gimbals, sensor heads. When the axial budget is 40 mm, a 53 mm body simply does not go in.

Can it take a radial load?

It is a joint motor, not a bearing housing. Support the load with your own bearing and use the joint for torque only.

Does the 6:1 ratio hold position well?

Holding is the motor’s job here, and there is no brake. A vertical axis will backdrive on power-off.

How long does it take to ship?

Confirmed per order at quotation.
