DAMIAO DM-J10422 planetary joint motor

The largest DM-J: 100 N·m continuous, 400 N·m peak at 2.7 kg. A hip or a heavy lift axis where you want planetary shock tolerance and a low price rather than arcsecond precision.

When this is the right choice

  • 400 N·m peak at 2.7 kg. Nothing else in the DM-J range comes close, and the number is achieved with a 22:1 planetary rather than a harmonic.
  • Hip and heavy lift axes on a mid-size biped or a quadruped, where impact tolerance matters more than backlash.
  • Lower cost than a comparable harmonic at this torque class.
  • One controller, one CAN stack with the rest of the robot.

When it is the wrong choice

  • Precision or force control. No torque sensor, and planetary backlash is present at the output.
  • Power-off safety. No brake — a hip axis will not hold itself.
  • Above ~400 N·m peak. That is waist-joint territory and a different drive type.

DM-J10422 FAQ

Planetary or harmonic for a hip?

Planetary if the robot falls, gets kicked or works outdoors: the drive survives shock a flexspline will not. Harmonic if the axis has to hold position precisely and quietly.

How do I hold the axis at power-off?

With a separate brake or a self-locking ratio. 22:1 alone will not hold a hip.

Is 400 N·m peak a real number?

It is the manufacturer’s instantaneous figure against a 100 N·m continuous rating. Treat it as an impact and acceleration allowance, not a working load.

How long does it take to ship?

Confirmed per order at quotation.
